Switzerland beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-1 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on 18 June, eliminating Bosnia and sealing their own place in the round of 32 1. Substitute Johan Manzambi scored twice, Ruben Vargas added a third and captain Granit Xhaka converted a stoppage-time penalty. Tarik Muharemovic was sent off for Bosnia.
The win leaves Switzerland and Canada level at the top of Group B, both having advanced after Canada's matchday-one draw against Bosnia . With results no longer separating them, goal difference becomes the tiebreaker, and it is where Canada's six-goal margin against Qatar gives them the edge.
That margin is not cosmetic. Finishing first carries the same seeding advantage Mexico secured in Group A, a softer knockout draw for the group winner. Switzerland's four goals narrowed the gap but did not close it, so the final round of fixtures will decide whether Xhaka's team can overhaul Canada and claim the easier route through.
