Wingtech

Wingtech Technology is a Chinese electronics manufacturer, best known for acquiring Dutch chipmaker Nexperia for $3.63 billion in 2018-2019 as part of a broader push into semiconductors. Analysis of its shareholding structure has found that roughly 30% of Wingtech's shares trace back to Chinese state entities, including bodies under the State Council's asset-supervision commission and government-run semiconductor investment funds.

Since the Dutch government moved to freeze Nexperia's assets, intellectual property, business activities and personnel in September 2025 under the Goods Availability Act, and its Wingtech-appointed chief executive was removed, Wingtech has pursued both Chinese court action and international arbitration seeking over $8 billion in damages. Ownership of Nexperia has not changed hands; the Dutch measures constrain the company's operations rather than transferring or nationalising it.

On 16 July 2026 a Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesperson called for Beijing and the Netherlands to help resolve the dispute through consultation , a notably softer tone than Beijing's usual posture on forced technology transfer disputes.
