ver.di represents workers across Germany's banking, insurance, retail and public-administration sectors under the umbrella of the United Services Union. On 1 September 2026 the union secured a 3.3% insurance-sector pay increase and, in the same round, opened a separate negotiation for an AI jobs agreement it calls the Tarifvertrag Transformation, covering location protection, a dismissal ban and reskilling.

Its sectoral reach means an AI agreement negotiated in one industry, such as insurance, tends to set terms that ver.di then presses employer associations to match elsewhere, whether at AGV in insurance or with individual firms under house agreements.

A third round on the Tarifvertrag Transformation is scheduled for October 2026 in Wuerzburg, where the union expects to press insurers further on reskilling and dismissal protections rather than settling for pay alone.
