True Anomaly Inc.

True Anomaly Inc. is a US defence space startup founded in 2022 and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, specialising in on-orbit rendezvous, Proximity operations (RPO), and space domain awareness. The company develops autonomous spacecraft designed to approach, inspect, and if necessary intercept other satellites or objects in orbit. Its core product is the Jackal spacecraft, an uncrewed RPO vehicle designed for both surveillance and active space domain control. On 24 April 2026 True Anomaly was named among eleven awardees of the US Space Force's $3.2 billion Other Transaction Authority pool for Golden Dome space-based interceptor prototypes.

Founded by former US Air Force and defence industry professionals, True Anomaly raised over $100 million in venture funding through 2024 and conducted its first on-orbit demonstration in 2024. Its Jackal spacecraft was designed from the outset with national security RPO missions in mind, positioning the company for exactly the type of OTA award the Golden Dome programme offered. The firm represents a new tier of purpose-built defence space startups that have emerged since the creation of the USSF in 2019.

True Anomaly's inclusion in the Golden Dome pool reflects the requirement for proximity interception capability: space-based missile defence requires not only detection and tracking but the ability to place an interceptor vehicle close enough to a target trajectory to intercept it. RPO-capable spacecraft are a core architectural component, and True Anomaly's purpose-built military RPO heritage distinguishes it from the commercial satellite servicing market.
