Rolls-Royce is a British manufacturer of aero-engines and power systems, based in Derby, supplying civil and military aircraft as well as marine and nuclear power plant. It is one of the UK's largest industrial employers and a rare domestic supplier of engines at the scale global airframers require.
At the Farnborough International Airshow on 20 July 2026, Rolls-Royce co-designed a proposed £100m debt fund with the British Business Bank, Airbus, GKN Aerospace and trade body ADS, aimed at smaller UK aerospace suppliers.
Its backing of the fund reflects how exposed Rolls-Royce's own output is to the financial health of the smaller specialist firms that feed its production lines, making supplier resilience a direct commercial concern rather than a purely industrial-policy one.
