Nomads & CommunitiesBackground
Regional Regulation 4/2026 of Klungkung Regency in Bali sets a tourism charge for visitors to Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan from 1 September 2026. It charges each foreign adult 25,000 rupiah and each foreign child 15,000.
The same rates apply at designated tourist attractions, where domestic visitors also pay. The regency government says the charge serves tourism management, service quality and regional development. It is levied in addition to Bali's provincial levy on foreign visitors.
Collection moved to a single gate in place of site-by-site charges, and takings for the first nine days of September reached 2.7bn rupiah, more than double the 1.1bn collected over 1 to 10 August.
A single gate more than doubles takings
The bylaw's charge took effect on 1 September 2026, and collection moved from site-by-site charges to a single gate. In the nine days to 9 September the regency took 2.7bn rupiah in tourism charges on Nusa Penida, compared with 1.1bn over 1 to 10 August.
Each foreign adult crossing to the three islands pays 25,000 rupiah, and each child from abroad pays 15,000. The charge sits on top of Bali's provincial levy on foreign visitors, so a trip from the main island now carries two separate fees. The regency government says the money serves tourism management, service quality and regional development.
