Background
The Powerus Matrix-T is a first-person view (FPV) target drone manufactured by Powerus, capable of reaching 130 mph with a 2 kg payload capacity. It was selected by the 75th Rangers for integration into the 42nd Annual Best Ranger Competition (10-12 April 2026), the first time live FPV drones were flown in the competition.
The Matrix-T is designed as a high-speed manoeuvrable platform suitable for training scenarios that require live aerial targets or rapid payload delivery at close range. Its adoption by elite US Army Rangers for competition use reflects the growing status of commercial FPV platforms in military training and the emerging doctrine of integrating drone piloting into infantry-level competency assessment.
