The Massachusetts State Police shares $21.2m in federal counter-drone funding with Boston police and Foxborough police, part of the more than $46m Massachusetts was awarded overall from FEMA's World Cup security grants.
The state's largest law enforcement agency, with roughly 2,500 sworn troopers and 600 civilian staff, the Massachusetts State Police holds statewide jurisdiction, including highway patrol, and is responsible for security at Logan International Airport. Massachusetts created the country's first state police force in 1865; the modern agency dates to a 1992 merger of four separate policing bodies.
