Background

Honeywell Aerospace and Shield AI signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at Farnborough on 22 July 2026 to build a trusted-autonomy software layer on Shield AI's Hivemind SDK. Honeywell pairs the layer with its own Anthem avionics; Shield AI will in turn assess Honeywell's safety-critical hardware for its own uncrewed aircraft.

The two companies will chase defence uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) work jointly and explore taking Hivemind into certified commercial aviation. No money changed hands as part of the deal; it is a non-binding MOU rather than a signed contract.

The agreement gives Shield AI's autonomy software the endorsement of one of aerospace's largest legacy avionics suppliers, at a moment when combat-air autonomy stacks from BAE, Anduril and Leonardo-Baykar are all converging on Farnborough within the same week.
