Graham Potter

Graham Potter led Sweden to a 5-1 opening-day win over Tunisia on 15 June 2026, with Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and a Yasin Ayari brace among the goals, leaving Sweden top of Group F after matchday one. Potter was appointed Sweden head coach in October 2025 on an initial short-term contract, subsequently extended to 2030, following the dismissal of Jon Dahl Tomasson after a defeat to Kosovo in World Cup qualifying.

Potter, Born 20 May 1975 in Solihull, England, built his reputation over seven years at Swedish club Ostersunds FK (2011-2018), guiding them from Sweden's fourth tier to Europa League football. He moved to English football with Swansea City, then managed Brighton & Hove Albion from 2019 to 2022, earning wide recognition for progressive possession-based tactics. A high-profile move to Chelsea in September 2022 lasted only seven months before his April 2023 dismissal. A further stint at West Ham (January to September 2025) ended with his sacking. Sweden was a return to familiar terrain.

Potter is the first English manager to lead Sweden at a major tournament. His history with Swedish football, fluency with Scandinavian coaching culture, and track record of developing players on tight budgets made him an unconventional but well-reasoned appointment.
