Background
The EDIC Support Hub is a European Commission programme established under the Digital Europe Programme to provide technical and administrative support to European Digital Infrastructure Consortia (EDICs). An €1 million funding call for the EDIC Support Hub opened on 21 April 2026, as part of a wider package of seven Digital Europe Programme calls totalling €63.2 million. Applications close on 1 October 2026.
EDICs are the legal structures the European Commission uses to establish cross-border digital infrastructure projects involving multiple member states. The EDIC model was introduced in 2022 as a simplified legal vehicle for pan-European digital consortia, replacing earlier more complex multi-beneficiary structures. The EDIC Support Hub's role is to help prospective and active EDICs navigate the administrative, legal and technical requirements of setting up and operating cross-border digital infrastructure under EU frameworks.
The €1 million call is the smallest of the seven April 2026 Digital Europe Programme tranches; the largest is €24 million for European Health Data Space services. The EDIC Support Hub sits alongside the Digital Omnibus Regulation and Cloud and AI Development Act as one of the operational instruments in the Commission's digital sovereignty programme, though its scope is administrative rather than substantive.
