Background
Désiré Doué, Born on 3 June 2005 and holding dual French and Ivorian citizenship, developed at Stade Rennes, making 42 Ligue 1 appearances before a move of around €50 million to Paris Saint-Germain in 2024, where he rejected Bayern Munich to sign. He won the Golden Boy award and the UEFA Champions League Young Player of the Season for 2024-25, contributing to PSG's first Champions League title. An attacking midfielder and winger valued for his dribbling and creativity, Doué is frequently cast as a potential heir to Neymar at PSG. He made his France senior debut in March 2025 and scored his first international goals against Colombia on 29 March 2026, establishing himself in the squad before his first World Cup.
Doué scored France's fourth goal in their 4-1 win over Norway on 26 June, a strike that capped a perfect group stage for a heavily rotated French side at the 2026 World Cup. He came through the group as part of a forward line France has barely needed to field at full strength.
Doué provided the assist for Kylian Mbappé's opening goal in the quarter-final win over Morocco in Boston on 9 July, as France won 2-0 to reach the semi-finals.
