Derk Boswijk is a Dutch CDA politician and State Secretary for Defence. His REMIT covers the Netherlands’ military material readiness, defence industrial policy and innovation.
Before joining the Jetten cabinet on 23 February, Boswijk sat in the Tweede Kamer for the CDA from 2021, where he worked on defence and foreign affairs. Reporting on Dutch counter-drone procurement linked his portfolio to a non-binding 24 September letter with Electro Optic Systems on co-developing a 100-kilowatt laser.
That role places Boswijk at the junction of procurement and domestic defence-industrial policy. The same report described Dutch moves to ADD interceptor drones to its Redrone counter-drone system, showing the operational setting in which his portfolio sits.
