Background

Centrica is a British multinational energy and services group headquartered in Windsor. Its British Gas and Bord Gais brands sell gas, electricity and household services to more than 10 million customers across the UK and Ireland, the core of the group's earnings. A separate Arm trades and optimises energy on wholesale markets, and Centrica keeps a foothold in generation and in gas storage capacity, notably at the Rough site.

That storage foothold is why a Centrica name turns up in wholesale market research: on 27 July 2026, analyst Ricky Hill co-presented an EU-wide refill outlook with the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. It reads as one data point the group's trading desk contributes to the wider market, not as a description of what Centrica itself is.
