UK Local Elections 2026Background
Almondbury is a three-member ward of Kirklees Metropolitan Borough Council, south-east of Huddersfield. The boundary introduced for the May 2026 election includes Almondbury village and surrounding communities. The Local Government Boundary Commission recorded 13,441 electors in 2023 and forecast 14,463 by 2029.
At the May 2026 all-out election, the ward's 13,601 electors could cast three votes. Reform UK won all three seats, with Gill Floyd, Pip Harvey and Craig Wiles elected. That result established the baseline for later changes in the ward's representation.
A vacancy produced an August 2026 by-election. Liberal Democrat Paola Davies won with 43.9% against Reform UK's 27.0%, giving the party one Almondbury seat while two remained with Reform.
