European Tech Sovereignty: Verda raises $189m for Finnish megawattsBackground
Tesi describes itself as a state-owned, market-driven investment company that invests in venture capital and private equity funds and directly in Finnish startups and growth companies. Its stated purpose is to help Finnish companies grow.
On 22 September 2026 Tesi confirmed its participation in the $189m Series B raised by Verda, the Helsinki AI cloud company formerly called DataCrunch. Tesi says it first invested in the company in 2025 and has followed it through several rounds since.
The holding puts Finnish state money directly into domestic AI compute capacity, at a point when European policy argues over whether the shortfall in that capacity is a problem of money or of planning consent.
