Sarandos told analysts on Netflix's second-quarter earnings call on 16 July 2026 that generative AI had been used across roughly 300 Netflix titles that year, naming the company's AI stack for the first time: Interpositive, the visual-effects studio Netflix bought from Ben Affleck for up to $600m; Eyeline, an internal tool; and Animation Lab, its in-house animation capability. He cited The American Experiment as running roughly 17 minutes of AI-enhanced footage produced twice as fast and at half the cost of the traditional route, with the savings redirected into content spend rather than taken as margin.

Sarandos is co-chief executive of Netflix, a position he has held since 2020 alongside Greg Peters. He joined Netflix in 2000 as chief content officer and is credited with the commissioning decisions behind the company's earliest original series, including House of Cards. His control of a content budget exceeding $17 billion a year and his public statements on production strategy carry weight across the whole streaming and studio sector.

The July disclosure follows his June 2026 confirmation that AI-generated visual effects appeared in Netflix's Argentine series The Eternaut, the first on-record senior-executive admission from a major streamer of AI in a final broadcast production. One filing later, Netflix's Form 10-Q for the same quarter contained no mention of AI at all, underlining how far ahead of its own paperwork the company's public disclosure now runs.
