Why is an Edinburgh security firm buying a Swiss-American detection provider?
Background
Quorum Cyber is a managed security services company founded in Edinburgh in 2016, with a second office in Tampa, Florida. It builds its services around Microsoft security tools: it is a Microsoft Solutions Partner for Security and a member of the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association.
In September 2026 Quorum Cyber agreed to acquire Ontinue, a managed Extended Detection and Response provider headquartered in Redwood City, California, and Zurich. The deal was one of 39 cybersecurity acquisitions announced that month in SecurityWeek's count, and the price was not disclosed. SecurityWeek reported that the deal will combine the two firms' services into what they call a Microsoft-first security operations centre.
The Ontinue deal is a UK security company buying into the US market. It turns an Edinburgh firm with one American office into a transatlantic provider whose pitch rests on depth in a single vendor's security stack.
