Porter

Porter is a Bengaluru-headquartered platform for on-demand intra-city logistics, moving goods and small deliveries by two- and four-wheeled couriers within Indian cities.

Because Porter is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka's gig-worker welfare board and the law behind it apply on the company's home ground, unlike for a multinational entering from outside. Its exit, alongside its continuing legal challenge to the law, is a local operator declining to help fund a welfare scheme in the state where it is headquartered and where most of its workforce is based.

That local exposure makes Porter's position harder to separate from ordinary state politics than a multinational's would be, since Karnataka's lawmakers and Porter's own delivery workforce are the same audience the company answers to day to day.
