The Ministry of Manpower, known in Indonesia as Kemnaker, sets national policy on employment, wages and vocational training. On 29 August 2026 it announced a new upskilling and reskilling strategy. The strategy reorients vocational curricula toward AI literacy and automation. Vietnam and Turkey set their own dated AI workforce-training targets in the same period, part of a wider regional push .
The ministry has set Indonesian labour policy since 1947, adapting its role through successive waves of industrial change. Vocational graduates have long relied on its training centres to enter formal employment.
The August 2026 strategy is intended to keep that training pipeline relevant as automation reshapes entry-level roles. The bundle does not yet show enrolment or completion figures against the new curriculum.
