MeluXina-AI

AI-optimised EuroHPC supercomputer being built in Luxembourg by E4 Computer Engineering under an €80m contract.

MeluXina-AI is the AI-optimised EuroHPC supercomputer for Luxembourg whose €80 million build contract went to E4 Computer Engineering on 22 July 2026, alongside a companion MeluXina-Q quantum tender the next day.

Key Question

Why is Luxembourg getting its own AI supercomputer instead of relying on US cloud providers?

Background

MeluXina-AI is an AI-optimised supercomputer commissioned by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking and hosted by LuxProvide in Luxembourg, intended to expand Europe's own capacity for training and running large AI models rather than relying on US cloud infrastructure. It follows the existing MeluXina system, extending Luxembourg's role as a EuroHPC hosting site.

It forms part of a wider build-out of EU-controlled AI-factory infrastructure, sitting alongside procurement for a companion MeluXina-Q quantum machine at the same site. As with other EuroHPC-funded systems, delivery depends on the contracted integrator, in this case E4 Computer Engineering with Dell Technologies as subcontractor, meeting the acquisition, installation and maintenance schedule set out in its contract.

MeluXina-AI's build contract is signed

The MeluXina-AI contract runs to the machine's full lifecycle: buying, delivering, installing and maintaining the system for roughly €80 million, split evenly between EuroHPC and the EU's Digital Europe Programme . EuroHPC signed that deal with the Italian integrator E4 Computer Engineering on 22 July 2026, with Dell Technologies brought in as hardware subcontractor.

The following day, 23 July 2026, EuroHPC opened a separate tender worth up to €11.95 million for MeluXina-Q, a companion quantum machine for the same LuxProvide site, funded equally by EuroHPC and the Luxembourg government . Unlike the AI machine, the quantum system remains at tender stage rather than under a signed contract.
