Background

Netflix confirmed on its 16 July 2026 earnings call that it had acquired Interpositive, a visual-effects studio founded by Ben Affleck, for up to $600m in March 2026, naming it as one of three generative AI tools behind roughly 300 Netflix titles produced in 2026. Co-chief executive Ted Sarandos said the studio's output helped produce the documentary The American Experiment roughly twice as fast and at half the cost of the traditional route.

Little else about Interpositive's operations, headcount or client base beyond Netflix has been disclosed. The acquisition and its role were both confirmed for the first time on the July call, four months after the deal itself closed, illustrating how Netflix has kept its AI-vendor relationships out of public view until pressed to account for them.
