Focus Taiwan is the English-language, and Japanese-language, news service of the Central News Agency (CNA), Taiwan's national news agency. CNA became a government-funded corporation in 1996 and is overseen by Taiwan's Ministry of Culture, which appoints its chairman and board.

In CNA's 2025 final accounts, direct government subsidy was TWD 360.09m against total income of TWD 635.27m, 56.7% of the total; including government-commissioned work, state-derived income reached 70.3%. On 15 September 2026 Focus Taiwan reported that ESMC had held the topping-out ceremony at its Dresden semiconductor fab, corroborated by Taipei Times .
