Mexico City's Fiscalía General de Justicia (FGJCDMX) has opened four investigations into the crush that killed four people at the Ángel de la Independencia on Paseo de la Reforma on the night of 30 June into 1 July, three of them classified homicidio culposo, negligent homicide, with no determination reached.
The Fiscalía General de Justicia de la Ciudad de México is Mexico City's public prosecutor's office, an autonomous constitutional body responsible for investigating and prosecuting crimes committed in the capital, headed by a Fiscal General. Its REMIT covers criminal investigation, victim support and crime-prevention policy across the city.
The Reforma deaths came hours after Mexico beat Ecuador 2-0 at the Estadio Azteca. Mexico City later deployed a 40,000-strong security operation for the following Azteca fixture and declared saldo blanco, no casualties. Nothing has been published on whether crowd management on Reforma that night was reviewed.
