Ezri Konsa

Ezri Konsa headed England into a 2-0 lead in Miami's 6-4 bronze-final win over France on 18 July 2026, part of a 4-0 half-time lead that survived a French fightback.

Born on 23 October 1997 in Newham, east London, to a Democratic Republic of Congo father and an Angolan mother, Konsa began playing at Senrab, the grassroots club whose alumni include Jermain Defoe, John Terry and Ledley King. He came through Charlton Athletic's academy before joining Brentford and then Aston Villa from Brentford in 2019, establishing himself as a centre-back and right-back option. He won the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2018 Toulon Tournament with England's youth sides before making his senior debut in March 2024 against Brazil, over a decade into his professional career.

A fringe figure in Tuchel's first-choice defence, Konsa's header in the third-place match was a rare senior goal and a reminder of the squad depth England carried through a campaign that ended in bronze rather than the final.
