Chemistry World publishes monthly chemistry news for the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), covering research, business news and government policy affecting the chemical sciences. It reaches all RSC members as part of their membership, alongside a public-facing website carrying a mix of free and members-only content.
The title launched in January 2004, replacing the RSC's earlier publication Chemistry in Britain, with the rebrand intended to reflect the international Nature of the subject. It has published continuously since and carries regular columns from established Science writers, giving it institutional standing when it reports on UK Science and research policy.
That standing comes from being the RSC's own title rather than an independent outlet, which gives its reporting on research funding and Science policy a level of sector access and institutional weight most trade press cannot match.
