Buenos Aires serves as Argentina’s capital and largest city. Federalisation in 1880 made the city administratively distinct from the surrounding Buenos Aires province, whose capital is La Plata.
That distinction matters when national infrastructure is described by location. The city remains Argentina’s operating data-centre centre, while a 14 September tracker recorded proposed projects elsewhere in the country rather than completed facilities. Buenos Aires therefore provides the practical reference point for Argentina’s existing digital infrastructure, separate from the province that shares its name.
