Netflix's co-chief executive Ted Sarandos named Interpositive as part of the company's generative AI stack on the 16 July 2026 earnings call, confirming publicly for the first time that Netflix had bought the visual-effects studio in March 2026 for up to $600m. Affleck founded Interpositive before the sale; Netflix has not detailed his ongoing role, if any, since the acquisition.

Affleck is an actor and director better known for his film and production work than for visual-effects technology, which makes Interpositive an unusual outlet for a studio founded by a Hollywood name rather than a visual-effects veteran. The sale places one of his ventures directly inside the AI production pipeline of the world's largest streaming service.
