Arsenal FC

Arsenal Football Club is a professional football club based in Holloway, north London, competing in the Premier League. Founded in 1886 in Woolwich, they moved to north London in 1913. The club has won 13 First Division and Premier League titles and 14 FA Cups. Arsenal are one of England's most successful clubs, though they have not won the Premier League since the Invincibles season of 2003-04.

Arsenal came to prominence in the 2026 FIFA World Cup narrative through their striker Viktor Gyokeres, the Swedish international who scored an 88th-minute winner to send Sweden to the tournament for the first time since 2018. Gyokeres signed for Arsenal in the summer of 2025, quickly establishing himself as one of Europe's most clinical forwards after a prolific spell at Sporting CP. His hat-trick against Ukraine in the World Cup playoff semi-final, followed by the late winner against Poland in the final, made him one of the tournament's most anticipated strikers.

The club is currently managed by Mikel Arteta and plays home matches at the 60,704-capacity Emirates Stadium. Their squad includes internationals from across Europe, with Gyokeres joining a forward line built around domestic and European competition. Arsenal's prominence in the 2026 World Cup story is almost entirely a result of Gyokeres's form.
