UK Startups and Innovation: DTC Quantum names four Harwell cohort firmsWhat is the UKRI DeepTech Catalyst Quantum programme?
Which quantum startups are based at Harwell?
Background
AmorphiQ was named as one of four companies in UKRI's DeepTech Catalyst (DTC) Quantum programme on 14 April 2026, receiving between £50,000 and £100,000 plus 50 hours of business support, alongside Curenetics, Coherence Engine, and Qascade . The cohort is based at the STFC Harwell Campus in Oxfordshire, the UK's principal quantum Science facility.
AmorphiQ works in Quantum computing, a field where the UK has invested heavily through UKRI's National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) at Harwell. DTC Quantum provides early-stage startups with seed-level capital, access to NQCC's quantum hardware, and commercialisation support designed to bridge the gap between academic spinout and investable company.
The DTC Quantum cohort model is competitive: Harwell selection indicates UKRI confidence in AmorphiQ's technology readiness and commercial potential within the UK quantum ecosystem.
