UK Startups and Innovation: TidalSense takes £14.2m with no leadBackground
TidalSense, a Cambridge respiratory-diagnostics company, raised £14.2 million on 24 July 2026 from a four-investor syndicate with no disclosed lead: Cross-Border Impact Ventures, BGF, Airstream Capital and Foresight Group .
Formerly Cambridge Respiratory Innovations, TidalSense was founded in 2013 and builds N-Tidal, a handheld sensor that diagnoses COPD from 75 seconds of normal breathing rather than the forceful exhalation spirometry requires; the software received an EU CE mark in March 2025.
A lead investor normally sets a round's price, negotiates terms and takes a board seat. TidalSense's syndicate has none, which fits a company whose principal risk sits with regulators and health-service procurement rather than the open market .
