Background
TF1 Group became the first national broadcaster anywhere to have its live channels distributed inside Netflix when Netflix France began streaming TF1's five broadcast channels (TF1, TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries Films, and LCI), plus the TF1+ on-demand library and live rugby and French national football fixtures, from 19 June 2026. The arrangement is the first time Netflix has carried a third-party linear broadcast channel anywhere in the world.
TF1 Group is France's largest commercial broadcaster, majority-owned by the Bouygues conglomerate. Its flagship TF1 channel holds the leading prime-time audience share in France, supplemented by TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries Films, and the LCI news channel. The group launched its own streaming service, TF1+, as a complement to the linear offering.
The Netflix deal reflects the re-bundling trend in European television: broadcasters are trading exclusivity for platform distribution at scale. For TF1, the arrangement expands its audience across Netflix's 10 million-plus French subscribers without cannibalising TF1+, and sets a template other European broadcasters are likely to follow.
