SWIG Finance is one of four regional fund managers, alongside FW Capital, The FSE Group and Maven Capital Partners, delivering the British Business Bank's South West Investment Fund, which the Bank reported on 27 July 2026 had passed £157 million deployed across 283 businesses since its July 2023 launch .
SWIG Finance is a not-for-profit social enterprise and Community Development Finance Institution established in 1992 to provide gap finance to smaller businesses across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Dorset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire that mainstream lenders turn away. Since 2009 it has separately invested more than £116 million in over 5,700 businesses.
The South West Investment Fund's cheques, from £25,000 loans to £5 million of equity, sit below the size a venture fund can justify diligencing, which is the gap SWIG Finance and its fellow managers exist to fill .
