Nomads & CommunitiesBackground
The Sistema Consular Integrado (SCI) is the online platform Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) uses for Visa applications at its embassies and consulates. Applicants complete the form and upload supporting documents through it.
From 1 September 2026 Brazil issues every temporary Visa electronically through the system to nationals exempt from its visitor Visa, including work, family reunion and digital nomad visas. Applicants hand in no passport and receive the Visa by email; Itamaraty announced the switch on 28 August.
Nationals WHO need a visitor Visa, including Americans, Canadians and Australians since April 2025, stay outside the electronic route. Holders still register with Brazil's Federal Police after they arrive, as before.
