Background

Mobian builds advertising formatted for AI agents rather than human readers. It converts a publisher's pages into markdown and generates agent-targeted units against them.

Time adopted the approach in July 2026, on a site that sees more machine traffic than human traffic on most days. The units render as labelled sponsored content laid out as frequently asked questions, the format retrieval systems parse most readily, and Time charges premium rates it has not disclosed.

Co-founder and chief executive Jonah Goodhart argues that influencing an assistant reaches everyone that assistant answers. Nothing about that proposition has yet been tested in market: agent advertising carries no agreed measurement standard and no viewability definition, and the inventory survives only while the retrieval systems reading those pages keep accepting sponsored content inside them.
