Background
Driveblocks GmbH is a Munich-based software company building AI perception and autonomy systems for off-road vehicles. Its platform fuses camera and LiDAR data into a real-time 3D model of a vehicle's surroundings, letting vehicles navigate unstructured terrain such as farmland, construction sites and hilly ground without relying on pre-built maps. Customers span agriculture, construction and defence.
The company was founded by Dr Alexander Wischnewski (CEO) and Dr Stephan Matz (COO), who developed their expertise through doctoral research and autonomous-racing competitions at the Technical University of Munich. Driveblocks closed a 3.5 million euro pre-Series A round, led by Forward One with Bayern Kapital, Rethink Ventures and angel investor Joachim Drees, to commercialise its off-road autonomy technology.
On the defence side, Driveblocks supplies the AI perception software for Germany's InterRoC VII programme, letting Rheinmetall's HX-family convoy trucks classify obstacles when satellite navigation is denied or jammed.
