Media's AI Pivot: Comcast and Dish enter the Paramount caseBackground
Dish Network is an American satellite television and pay-TV provider.
In July 2026 it was drawn into the antitrust case against Paramount Skydance's acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, entering an appearance on 30 July to contest the sealing of its own confidential material. It holds no stake in the transaction.
Dish's presence says more about the case than about Dish. A merger challenge resting on wide-release theatrical share obliges the plaintiffs to establish how films reach audiences across the sector, which necessarily pulls distributors, exhibitors and pay-television operators into the evidentiary record.
Dish entered a rival merger case
Dish Network appeared in the antitrust action against Paramount Skydance on 30 July 2026 and filed a declaration on whether its own documents should be sealed. It is not a party to the merger. Non-parties appear when discovery reaches material they would rather keep confidential, so the appearance is a marker of how FAR into carriage and distribution terms the record has travelled. Regal Cineworld had filed on the same question ten days earlier and Comcast followed the next day, putting an exhibitor, a satellite operator and a rival distributor inside a case that began as twelve states against two studios.
