BSS

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) is Bangladesh's state-run national news agency, established in 1972 and headquartered in Dhaka, distributing domestic and international wire content to the country's newspapers and broadcasters.

Like national agencies elsewhere, BSS routinely republishes output from the major international wires, AFP among them, rather than gathering it independently. Its role is distribution within Bangladesh, not original reporting on the events those wires cover, which is how an unconfirmed figure first attributed to FIFA can reach Dhaka readers within hours of appearing on an international feed.
